ALASKAN KLEE KAI
ADOPTION QUESTIONNAIRE

Thank you for considering one of my country raised AKK pups.

You can help me to get to know you by filling out and sending my prospective owner’s Questionnaire. This is an important part in adopting an Alaskan Klee Kai. As a breeder of these precious 'little Huskies', it is important to me that you get the puppy you want as well as one that will fit into your loving family... We will temperament test all our puppies before they go to their new homes. You will know your puppy's strengths and weaknesses as well as his/her "expected" conformation to breed standards.  Please realize that not all puppies will be a good fit for each prospective buyer. I ask that you respect my efforts in placing only the puppy that fits your family based on my observations, testing and knowledge.

And now, a little about availability of puppies: Lately, most requests are for a blue eyed black and white AKK pup. Another thing to keep in mind is that if you get an offer of an AKK, be prepared to "grab it".  As a breeder with many people wanting puppies,  please know that we need to move on to the next person as soon as possible, and therefor cannot wait on you once a puppy is offered. Be sure you are ready to accept your AKK anytime one becomes available, as you may have a long wait for the second offer. (This is the reality of it all, I am trying to impress upon you how to best achieve your goal of your very own AKK in the swiftest way possible).

The Adoption Questionnaire starts just below this message. Make entries and Click on "Send Questionnaire" at the bottom.

Sincerely,

Karen Street, Top Dog

11) Can you arrange to have your AKK let out every 4 hours as a puppy?  Yes    No   *
The Alaskan Klee Kai is an agile and intelligent dog, also can be a digger,
runner, climber and jumper---ie; major escape artist!
(this is extremely important with this breed! Example: we have a regular
fence, a wire fence AND an electric fence, and we still will have an
escapee from time to time)

If you do not have a secured area, do you intend to take your AKK out on a leash when needed to go potty and play?

This little dog can escape through very small spaces. Sometimes the AKK might try to escape to a bit of freedom (the Husky part) if the door is left open or even when you might be leaving the house. Obedience School may help to overcome this problem.
15) Would you be willing to take your AKK to Obedience Classes?  Yes    No *
16) Would you be willing to take your AKK with you whenever possible?  Yes    No *
Socialization is an EXTREMELY important factor in raising an AKK puppy. As a breed, there is a tendency toward shyness with strangers so the more intimate contact the puppy has with people and dogs outside the household, the better. This type of training has to be continuous as the puppy grows into adulthood.
17) Do you think you can get your puppy out and involved in many new situations as soon as possible?  Yes    No *
18) Will you and your family spend much time with your AKK?  Yes    No *
19) Who will be the caretaker for your AKK? (who will have the major responsibility for care?) *
20) If your AKK was to bite or develop a habit you do not find acceptable, what would you do? *
21) Would you be able to return your AKK to me in the event of a problem?  Yes    No *
22) If you were to suffer a divorce or break up (even death) of someone currently involved with your AKK and it's care, will you have made previous arrangements for the AKK's custody? (don't laugh! this has caused some folks MAJOR heartache!)  Yes    No *
23) Do you have any interest in breeding your AKK?  Yes    No *
24) How about showing your AKK in UKC or ARBA competition, Agility, Tracking, Rally-O, etc?

If so, which area(s) interest you the most? (this helps me select the right puppy for your interests)
 Yes    No *

25) Do you intend to spay/neuter your AKK?  Yes    No *
26) Are you, or have you been, a dog breeder?

If so, when and which breeds?
 Yes    No *

27) Are you only interested in a puppy?

Would you take an older dog?
 Yes    No *

 Yes    No *
28) How about a special needs dog (either a puppy with a health issue or defect, or an adult with same)?  Yes    No *
29) Why do you feel your home would be a desirable place for an Alaskan Klee Kai? *
30) Do you have any particular concerns regarding any special circumstances surrounding your buying an AKK?
The Alaskan Klee Kai community is a group where information is exchanged and owners communicate with each other, as well as their breeders. I like to stay in contact with my puppy owners.
31) Would you be willing to stay in contact me and/or others about your AKK?  Yes    No *
As a breeder of AKK, I am very careful and do my part to maintain the quality of my puppies and the breed. You must understand that the Alaskan Klee Kai is a new and rare breed which is still being monitored. I would ask that you report to me any genetic defects, health problems, or temperament problems that may surface during the life of your AKK. This way we can work together for the good of the breed.
32) Would you help by reporting to me any genetic defects, health problems, or temperament problems?  Yes    No *
33) Have you met an AKK in person?

If so, where?

Who was the breeder?

What size/variety was the AKK?
